Horizon ‘Reset PIN’ FAQs

Rule: Reset PIN value is a repeat of the entire barcode e.g. CUF1234D. Note that with some ULANZ cards, the barcode characters are not printed on the card but may be viewed through Edit Borrower in the Horizon record.
Exception: If the barcode is longer than 8 characters (as may be the case for some ULANZ borrowers), then the PIN will be the last 8 characters.
e.g. Lincoln barcode 28150010754837; reset PIN = 10754837

Rule: Speed. Depending on network speed at the time, it may take a minute for the reset value to take effect. If in doubt, wait.
Exception: Report any exceptionally long wait to Library IT for investigation.

Rule: Login is not case sensitive
Exception: the ‘Old PIN’ entry when changing PINs is case sensitive. If you reset a borrower’s PIN, ask them to use lower case when they go to change their PIN.
