Videochat for Library Week

To celebrate Library Week (15th-21st October) we’re going to have videochat stations set up in five library branches, which will each be connected to another university library in New Zealand. (If you’ve seen the big videolink stations Telecom used to have running in some malls, it’ll be the same sort of thing: a webcam will send video and audio of us to the other library, and a screen and speakers will show us what’s going on there.) This will let students, academics, and ourselves catch a glimpse of life in other libraries, and also chat to friends and colleagues at other universities.

The libraries participating here are: Central, Education, Engineering, Law and PSL. Other university libraries participating are: AUT, Waikato (Central and Law), Massey (Palmerston North, though Wellington might do some of their sessions instead), Victoria (Central), and Lincoln.

There’ll be two sessions a day, at this stage probably from 9am – 12:50 and from 1:10 – 5pm. For the timetable of who’ll be connected to whom at each point, click “read more” below.
