As part of the enrolment process, all undergraduate students are required to have a new Canterbury card made every year as are most postgraduate students. As part of the lending interaction, please look at the date printed underneath their photograph on their card. If it is a past date e.g. 2007 or 02/08 but the Horizon record is current, please remind the student that it is time that they visited the Card Co-ordinator to have a 2008 card made. Students who do not bother to get a new card should have their borrowing blocked (use an Alert Block) until they comply, even where their Horizon record is current, as this is part of University regulations.
The Horizon expiry date is calculated as Jade course expiry date plus 108 days for undergraduates and postgraduates, or plus 180 days for Phds. The Horizon expiry date can be seen as ‘Exp. date’ in the top right corner of the Edit Borrower view.
