It advises borrowers with some items which are requested and overdue to return them immediately to minimise fines.

It is only sent to borrowers who have text capable phones, and who have overdue hourly items, or requested/recalled items that are overdue. It puts a block on the borrower Horizon record that records the time and date the text notification was sent. This block will print out on overdue reports that are run for personal telephoning.

This is an additional service, primarily aimed to assist the borrower who would like to have their use of the item in question.

The text being sent is “Unrenewable UC Library books overdue Pls return now to minimise fines Do NOT reply to this text Check UC Library My Account for details”
