We have recently changed access via ezproxy to go via a secure connection, so that the login and password is encrypted when it is sent over the internet. Since then we have been having reports of people having problems accessing databases. These people have reported that they were able to access them successfully until recently. We haven’t yet been able to replicate this problem, or get enough information to pinpoint it accurately.
For this reason, if you get someone reporting a problem like this inside ‘normal’ office hours, please refer them to Library IT immediately.
If this is reported during extended hours, please could you ask a few questions as follows:
1) Is this a recent problem ie have they been able to access databases successfully in the past.
2) Is the person using Internet Explorer as their browser.
3) If so, ask them if they’ve got another browser (eg Firefox) and if they could try that to see if they still have the problem.
Please then get as many contact details as possible, and say Library IT will get back to them. Send an email with as many details as possible to Library IT.
