If you come across a situation where a borrower is unable to place a Horizon request on a barcoded item (whether it is in Storage or elsewhere), keep in mind that Horizon has parameters that allow or disallow specific actions to specific borrowers. Please don’t assume there is a system fault if the expected action is disallowed.
Two particular ‘classes’ of borrowers, External borrowers (xa) and distance borrowers (ud rd sd) may not place requests on some items nor may they borrower certain items e.g. external borrowers can’t have journals issued to them so Horizon also disallows a request to be placed. Distance borrowers have NO choice of pickup location – all requests go to Education Library to be posted. They cannot place requests on 3day items (except Ed3d) since we will not post these (although if they come to a Lending desk, 3d loans can be issued in person).

When in doubt – look at the borrowers btype – this is likely to give you the best clue as to whether there is a problem or not.
