Almost all university computer access will be unavailable on Sunday 24 Aug from 8.00am. This includes almost all student and staff services. ICTS anticipate that most services will be back by 11.00am barring unforeseen circumstances, but some services will not be available until 1.00pm.
Horizon, the catalogue, access to databases and the Library Web will not be affected, but it will be difficult to login to get to them on campus. Someone from Library IT will come in to get some of the branches Lending desk PCs working. Priority will be given to Education (as it is term time) and Central then other branches.
ICTS are looking to provide a Helpdesk person in the Central Library from 10.00am to 1.00pm. If there are problems they will stay later. This will be confirmed closer to the time.
Digital Library and UC Research Repository will not be available during this time. The Digital Library server will be upgraded while everything is down and will be one of the later machines to be restored.
This work is part of the changes required to move to the new Data Centre.
Please watch the comments for further information.
May I suggest that some generic posters advising patrons of the effects of the outage be placed in all campus Libraries.

Good to see that the Helpdesk person may stay until after 1pm on Sunday. Could we ask them to stay until say 1.30 as PSL doesn’t open until 1pm anyway and may not know of any problems until then.
