Recycling in Central Library — Sunday

The new recycling process will be introduced into the Central Library on Sunday. The current rubbish bins will be replaced by the new recycling stacks (examples in staff room). For staff, each desk will get an ice cream sized container that staff will need to empty into the nearest recycle stack which will be either close by in an open user area or in the Staff Room.

The maroon paper recycle trays will continue to be emptied by Library staff into the large maroon bins rather than by the cleaners. Cardboard and other large items will continue to be recycled by existing methods. Any remaining Maroon bins in user areas near photocopiers or printers will also need to be emptied by Library staff, but they can be replaced by larger grey bins that the cleaners will empty.

Level 1 and Level 5 will get a bag to recycle courier bags.

There will be a battery recycle box on L3 and in Library IT

Staff may take home their rubbish bins tonight if they wish.

Kate Hewson is happy to make changes as we get some experience with the change. We have made our best guess on what is needed, but have not been able to consult with all staff. Kate will talk to the cleaners and the Library next week. Please report any problems to Tim O’Sullivan, me or you can go directly to Kate.

Comments welcome
Thanks, Anne
