Fixed Term Library Assistant Vacancy, Collection Services

Fixed Term for 12 months (November 2008 – October 2009)
Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)

Applications are invited for a fixed-term, full-time Library Assistant position based in the Collection Services Central Team for 12 months from November 2008 to October 2009. Please note: Current library staff who wish to apply for this vacancy as a secondment will need to provide a letter of support from their manager with their application.

The role of Library Assistant (Collections) is to provide purchasing, cataloguing, processing, digitisation and collection maintenance services for the University Library, and to contribute towards campus-wide Library services. This position is based in Collection Services in the Central Library, but may be required to work on other tasks in other areas of the department or the Library from time to time.

You will have previous experience with automated library systems and some knowledge of library procedures. Ideally you will have some previous cataloguing experience. You will demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service and continuous improvement, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be flexible and adaptable. The normal work schedule for this position is as follows:

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm (1 hour lunch break)
