In the last couple of weeks I have read the documentation relating to the One Desk project and participated in a number of meetings with library and ICTS staff regarding the proposed plan to move to One Customer Service Desk on the Lending side of the library.
At LLT yesterday my recommendation NOT to proceed with Central LIbrary staff offering their customer services from one desk in 2009 was accepted.
We will still be aiming for a one desk service point for customers, however it is hoped that the design of a new service point will be done at the same time as other changes which are being considered for Levels 1 and 2 of Central LIbrary.
Staff from Information Services and ICTS will work from the current Help Desk – minor modifications may be done to the current desk.
Lending and reserves staff will work from the current lending desk.
The staff from the Information Services team will continue to work on the Lending Desk over the summer breaks.
