Part-Time – 25 hours per week
Applications are invited for the position of Information Librarian at the University of Canterbury. The successful candidate will provide public services and specialist support to students and academic staff in the Education Library. Although based in the Education Library, the appointee may be required to work in other locations in the University Library from time to time.
Applicants will need to demonstrate knowledge of adult teaching theory and practice, along with reference experience and skills in information retrieval. They will need to have excellent interpersonal communication skills, including a commitment to working in a team and be committed to providing a high standard of customer service to the College of Education staff and students, including distance students.
Applicants will have a professional library qualification, a University degree, preferably experience working within a tertiary library, along with experience and skills in information retrieval and information technologies. In addition you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including being fully committed to working in a team and to providing a high standard of customer service to staff and students.
The normal work schedule for this position is as follows:
Academic Year:
Monday, Friday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Thursday 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Summer Hours:
Monday, Friday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00pm – 5:00pm
