You might have noticed the boxes on LibGuides have suddenly changed from rounded corners to square corners.
This is in response to a bug on Internet Explorer which threw up an error message when a box with rounded corners had a script in it (eg for our databases). This would be ugly/confusing for users. SpringShare is working on a more robust fix, but in the meantime we’ve changed our style.
It’s possible to override the setting for individual guides – but please don’t, because of this bug; or at least discuss it with Library IT first. (And if you come across any more bugs or error messages, please let Library IT know the details and circumstances: SpringShare is getting used to hearing from us on a regular basis so it’d be a shame to let them feel neglected. 🙂 )

You may in fact notice that your libguides still have rounded corners on the boxes. If this is the case it means that your guide has over-ridden the setting and needs to be reset. It probably should be done, so that they are all the same and so we don’t risk error messages. Let me know if you need help to do this.
If the bug is fixed, I can reinstate the rounded corners as the default.

SpringShare are really very good at responding to our requests for support, but as Deborah said, they are getting quite a few requests from me at the moment – because you are all doing such interesting and innovative things with LibGuides that is really testing it to the limit.
Because we are contacting them so much, it is important that we only contact them when we really need to. So don’t forget to ask Library IT first if you come across something – we have quite a lot of experience with LibGuides now and can often help. We’ll pass on what we can’t help with.
