Academic Year Only (February – November), Permanent Part-Time

The Central Library at the University of Canterbury is seeking three enthusiastic Library Assistants to work part-time during the academic year which is February – November each year. The Central Library is one of the six branch libraries at the University of Canterbury.

The positions are responsible for helping to provide lending and other public services for the University Library. The successful applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to delivering outstanding service to customers and have a positive attitude towards continuous improvement. They will require good communication skills and be the type of person that thrives in a dynamic environment.

These positions are primarily based in the Central Library and there is an expectation that staff will be available to work in any of the branch libraries on campus.

The 2009 Academic Year is 23 February – 12 November

The normal work schedules for these vacancies are as follows:

Vacancy 1 – Academic Year: 15 hrs pw
Wednesday 6:00pm – 10:00pm (4 hrs)
Thursday 6:00pm – 10:30pm (4.5 hrs)
Sunday 3:00pm – 10:00pm (6.5 hrs)

Vacancy 2 – Academic Year: 13.5 hrs pw
Wednesday 3:00pm – 10:00pm (6.5 hrs)
Saturday 10:00am – 5:30pm (7 hrs)

Vacancy 3 – Academic Year: 13.5 hrs pw
Wednesday 6:00pm – 10:30pm (4.5 hrs)
Thursday 6:00pm – 10:00pm (4 hrs)
Sunday 5:30pm – 10:30pm (5 hrs)
