ICTS are encouraging students to use the relatively new WebMail system which appears on their desktop as a small email icon. However, some students will prefer to use Thunderbird. This is still available – but they will need to go to Start, Programs to find the Thunderbird entry.

I notice, however, that on the ICTS Web pages, (link below), it says Thunderbird can be accessed from any ICT Workroom PC. I rang ICT Service Desk to ask if that meant that Thunderbird cannot be accessed from other PCs on campus (e.g. Student PCs in the Libary). ICT Service Desk confirmed that this is correct. I am fairly sure that last year students could access Thunderbird from Library PCs as well.

Thunderbird is on the Library PCs. ICTS Service Desk are not particularly familiar with our PCs so wouldn’t know.

Thanks, Peter. Perhaps the information on the ICT Webpages should be changed to reflect the fact that Thunderbird is available from PCs on campus, including the ICT workrooms. Not a big issue though, I guess. Caroline Anderson.
