Can LLT clarify the statement that "Currently there is virtually no gap at all from when a staff member leaves and another staff member takes their place"? I’m not sure what length of time is meant by "virtually no gap" since the gap certainly seems significant to those of us who have to cover desk shifts and other duties while waiting. A month gap is certainly not unheard of – for instance Engineering Library is still waiting on a vacancy that’s been empty for a month and a half.
Hi Deborah – I posted an item "Replacing staff" on this blog on 4 February, where the process for staff retention was fully explained. There will generally be a gap of about a month between staff leaving and new ones arriving, but for a number of vacancies recently a new replacement staff member has commenced the day after the previous staff member has left (or whenever the leave and payout periods have ended.
