Some issues

Terminology
BLT and a number of individuals have raised issues with inconsistent or confusing terminology. Please use the following:
My Library Account – for the catalogue My Account in line with My IT Account
Courtesy notices – for pre-overdue notices (we cant change this in Horizon)
Subject Guides – please stop using the term LibGuides

Printing charges changes
ICTS are not yet ready to change the printing charges to 7c. This is partly to do with problems with the new accounting system and partly because their printers have not yet all been replaced by Ricoh printers. I will let you know when ICTS have set a date for this change.

EFTPOS workstations
These will be upgraded over the next week or two, as the new test unit at the Copy Centre is working well.

PAC machines
Central Library PACs will soon become standard will all the other PACs in branches. This will allow access to Subject Guides. Also Blackboard will become available on all PACs (approved by BLT)

Cheers, Anne

  1. I notice that on the Library Web pages about how to place requests, Step 1 says "Click request any copy to obtain the next available copy." Shouldn’t this read "Click request first available copy to obtain the next available copy." ? There is no "request any copy" option, but there is a "request first available option option." Shouldn’t the wording to be changed to be consistent with the later statement: "Note: There is a "Request This Copy" option available under Copy/Holding information, but as a rule you should use this only when a specific copy is necessary, for example if you need vol 2 of a 3 volume set. In all other instances Request first available copy is likely to be the most efficient option." ?

In addition to this, is it possible to move the "request first available copy" button down the page, nearer to the Copy/Holding information, please? Many patrons comment that they did not notice the "request first available copy" option because of its position on the page.
