I am the new Interloans/Lending Library Assistant. I began this position on February 16 as my previous boss Marcus negotiated my start date a week later as I was working in the Contact Centre and the Enrolment period is our busiest time of year. As this was my seventh year in the Contact Centre I have acquired a vast and broad amount of knowledge regarding enrolment issues,
I started the MLIS programme last year and was lucky enough to gain a casual position in the library to gain some knowledge of library procedures while working 25 hours in the Contact Centre. I am looking forward to my new role and after the first day can see the benefits, knowledge and insight this position will give me in completing MLIS.
I have been at the university since 1998 when I began my BA. I started this once my daughter turned five and I could plan my lectures around her school time. I worked for Audio Visual from 2000 during the Academic year. In 2002 I worked at the Contact Centre on a fixed term basis then had a permanent part time position of 15 hours per week, then 20, then 25 hours per week. Prior to this work history I was overseas for seven years based mainly in England with a nine month stint in Israel and travelling in Europe. I mainly did bar work in England which was certainly an experience.
