Just an update on where we’re at with the recent issues with Meebo.
Pandion
Meebo have changed their connection settings, and Pandion is no longer able to connect to the service. I’m looking around for another instant messaging client that will be able to automatically connect to our room and give good sound/visual alerts. Keep using Meebo.com in the meantime.
Browser disconnection problems
Some people have reported that they’re being disconnected. Meebo offer the following advice:
– Connect via https://www.meebo.com/ (note the “s” after http)
– Try to avoid downloading high bandwidth resources while using Meebo (any network disruptions or overloads can cause disconnections).
– Clear your browser cache
Deirdre noticed that some people in Collection Services that were being disconnected had the videos open in Meebo.com. Minimise all the advertising/video panels by clicking the arrows on the divider between the chat session and video, and the tab heading in the advertising panel at the bottom of the page.

If your session is still freezing, please try to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Sandra has shown me that it isn’t possible to completely minimise the lower video tab in IE.
Also, if you use Firefox for your Meebo connection, then you can continue to use IE for browsing, which will minimise your chances of accidentally navigating away from Meebo and losing your connection.
