The Libguides Implementation Project Team (Deidre Congdon/Tim Stedman, Caroline Syddall, John Arnold, Deborah Fitchett, Donna Barber/Catherine Jane, Erin Kimber, Kerry Gilmore, Kerry Lyford) has met and we have started work to:
• identify current issues with the subject guides, and produce guidelines
• get processes underway to review the Subject Guides service by March 2010 – about one year from their introduction.
Full information on the project is on the wiki
To kick off we need your help in identifying the current issues with management of Subject Guides. To get you started, this “issues” list includes those identified by Janette Nicolle’s paper in April
• Quality of content
• Quality of interactivity
• When to create a LibGuide or Topic guide.
• Meebo chat and how it relates to AskLIVE
• Tags
• Moving more content to LibGuides
• Authentication issues
• Statistics – monitoring usage and interactivity
• How subject guides relate to the LEARN project.
• Navigation issues
• Maori language content
• Copyright / creative commons
• Monitoring of new developments in LibGuides and their application
Could every Information Librarian, and all others interested in this service please:
1. Copy the list above into an email
2. If you want an issue to be discussed further, add specific details
3. Add any other issues
4. If an issue isn’t important to you, remove it
5. Email the new list to kerry.lyford@canterbury.ac.nz before August 7
Project Team members will then pair up to research/discuss/negotiate guidelines to cover an a set of issues.
We have tentatively scheduled a forum on Tuesday 29 September to discuss the draft guidelines
Thanks
Kerry Lyford
