The Libguides Implementation Group is organising 2 forums for all staff interested in, or involved with, Subject Guides.
Each forum will cover the same ground and will be an opportunity to discuss:
* Findings from the Subject Guides usability testing,
* Guidelines for creating and maintaining good Subject Guides,
* Quality processes – the role of branch managers and the use of the guidelines as quality checks,
* Subject Guides – What next?
We invite you to attend either forum:
Tuesday 27th October 2-3.45 (with afternoon tea) Level 4 Training Room, Central Library
Friday 6th November 2-3.45 (with afternoon tea) Level 4 Training Room, Central Library
If you wish to attend the Tuesday session, please click here Subject Guides Forum
If you wish to attend the Friday session, please click here Subject Guides forum
Thank you.

Input should also be sought from academic staff about the effectiveness of the subject guides. There may already be some feedback about the guides in the Library Survey, in which case we should give that seriously respectful consideration, because we need to remember that the academics are our partners in providing subject resources to our users – we librarians are not doing it unaided and in isolation. A few academics at least actively contribute to providing content, as is the case with the Spanish guide, which gets a very favourable mention in the latest College of Arts newsletter (#4, October). Such recognition would not be forthcoming if the academics thought the subject guides were ineffective in their current format.
