Does anyone understand the wording under General Business that says:…
"Storage Project Cynthia explained that the majority of items from the warehouse are copy-catalogued and they are weeded again as they are handled."??
I wouldn’t have thought it was possible for something to be weeded "again"?
The idea was that the cataloguer looks critically at the item in hand before they catalogue it, particularly if original cataloguing is involved. We should be satisfied that it meets the criteria of having research value here at UC and that it is therefore worthy of the cost of cataloguing.
So in other words if an Information Librarian has been over to the Warehouse and has, for whatever reason, put something in the pile "To be Catalogued" it may not necessarily be catalogued and added to the collection? No discussion? End of story?
