We have three new casual staff members at Central here is a brief bio on each of them.
Katherine Moody:
“I am a casual assistant (Extended Hours) working on the issue desks of all libraries on campus. I am also a casual shop assistant at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand. I moved from the UK to New Zealand in 2009 and most recently worked with the Department of Printed Books at the Imperial War Museum answering enquiries and assisting researchers in the Reading Room.
I have also worked at the RAF Museum, Hendon, in the Department of Research and Information Services and in the Department of Printed Books at the National Army Museum, Chelsea.”
Stephanie Radley:
“As a student I find working in the University great. It’s fun to interact with students studying in different subject areas. It is also great to be working right on campus, No excuses for not studying!
I am currently finishing up a Master of Arts in Philosophy and I hope to continue as a philosophy tutor in Semester one.”
Lanmai Zhang:
“Hi everyone, my name is Lanmai Zhang. I am from Zhe Jiang- an eastern coastal province of China. I am a final year student at UC. This is my first time working in UC’s library as a casual assistant. The main benefit for me in this position, is that I get to work and learn from experienced staff at the library. After the well trained program, I feel more confident to give my support to staff as well as students. The study experience I gained in the past few years, allow me to understand what problems the new students might be facing. What drove me to apply as an casual assistant, is so that I can help to take away some of the confusion, that many new students feel from being in an unfamiliar environment. Hopefully this will make their first year of university study more enjoyable.”
