There will be another forum just for library staff on 19th May from 8.30 to 9.30 am about the Learning Resources Change Proposal. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr Rod Carr, offered this further opportunity for the Library to ask questions and will be present at this forum to answer any that library staff wish to put to him about the changes proposed for the Library.
I will confirm the venue after further discussion with HR.

Is it possible for the Library to hold a forum for academic staff which outlines the consequences of the change proposal? I think people without an intimate knowledge of the library, find it challenging to understand the real impact of the proposed changes.
Are we clear ourselves?
I wonder if this separate forum is to prevent us turning up in force at the May 20 forum and asking "difficult questions" in front of other UC staff?
The forum on 19 May at 8.30 will be held in the Coppertop.
Academic staff forum: Teaching & Learning Committee are having a special meeting this week to discuss the change proposal and have invited some library staff to attend.
The Library Committee has a working group preparing a submission on the academic impacts of the proposals in regard to the Library.
Faculties of Science and Commerce have discussed it at meetings and other faculties are to do liekwise.
Academic Board will receive comment from faculties and from Library Committee at the next meeting.
Information as to what it means for the academic community has been sought prior to all these discussions and the Library does have a representative at most of these meetings but the discussions have been a matter for the academic and student members to participate in rather than library staff.
I will post a summary on Counterculture soon of the anticipated impacts of the proposals for the information of library staff and whoever else is interested.
I understand that the Learning Resources Change Proposal, particularly as it relates to the Library, has demonstrated to UC the power of social networking sites and their accessibility to the normal news media for information on what is actually happening in the community.

Also, Sharon King has informed me that there is a student forum on the Learning Resources change proposal at 12 noon on Thursday 20th May in A1, which will be presented by the Vice-Chancellor.
