Well done everyone for making it through another aftershock. Thank you to all the staff who went out to their library users seated in the various branch libraries and asked if they were okay. Everyone was certainly “shaken” by the tremour. I noticed medicinal peppermints were being handed out to students in the Central Library!
A branch by branch roundup –
Central Library – a few more books fell off the shelves but otherwise all was okay
EPS Library – some ceiling tiles fell down on Level 3, in order to assess the situation EPS staff asked students to leave with the help of Security staff. Level 3 is off limits but the rest of EPS is up and running.
Macmillan Brown Library – all okay
Education Library – all okay
Law Library – all okay
Staff areas in the James Hight were rocked by the aftershock, however no further damage was created. Some ceiling tiles on Level 5 are looking a bit dodgy, and Collections staff are keeping a close eye on them.
The Crown staff, the Enterprise staff and the Library staff working on Level 4 certainly noticed the shake and all elected to carry on working on the floor.

Correction for level 3 EPS library. Only parts of the ceiling that fell down were in the "Quiet Zone". Only the "Quiet Zone" has been cordoned off. The mezzanine area remains open.
