I have asked Library IT to provide samples of edited hold and intransit slips for us to consider using this year. On the hold slips I have requested that the name and date be in larger print and that this information be at the top of the piece of paper. This should make it easier in all libraries to find the items and it should mean that staff do not need any further aid other than the slip as printed. At the Central Library holds are moving to self check out so having the name clearer and at the top will be a big advantage.
On the intransit sip I have asked them to move the name of the slip to the bottom which will mean that the library the item is moving to will be as close to the top of the slip as possible. At the moment it is difficult to leave enough of the slip out of the book to indicate which library it is going to.
When Library IT have samples available staff will be asked to comment to ensure a change would not be a negative for anyone. Barbara, Heather and me will make the final decision regarding a change in these slips.
