This is the second year that we’re running a basic find a book class for the generic orientation sessions and we’re planning to review how they’re going. We’ve drafted a feedback form to use in the classes and would be keen to know if anyone else is or has collected feedback on their classes. 🙂 Caroline, Kathryn, Ariana and Margaret
Depending on the class I’ve done a) simple ratings eg the poll at http://canterbury.libguides… and/or b) at the end of the class I ask them to call out what they’ve learnt and I type it up as a summary slide (eg the slides on that same page – all the slides with a yellow background are from stuff I got the students to call out; white background is me talking at them). It’s not a formal assessment but it gives me an idea and is useful to them.
I’ve also heard some librarians speak highly of the "minute paper" – one side asks for one thing the student’s learned, the other side asks one thing they’re still confused about.

Yes, I have heard about the minute paper as well. It might be soemthing to think about using. It sounds like it would be very straight forward to administer. The results would be interesting.

There’s some discussion and a couple of examples here: http://friendfeed.com/lsw/f…
