I have employed 13 additional students to assist with the shelving in the Central Library. They started last night on level 11. We all worked together last night but now they are working hours which are convenient to them. They are able to work between the hours of 9 am – 8 pm Monday – Friday and between 10-5 pm on this Saturday. Their canterbury cards allow them access from levels 2 up to Level 11.

Once the work on Level 11 is completed they will moved down and finsih off Level 10. During the day shifts the students are sharing this floor with 5 painters who are painting the core walls white. All of the floors have had the cracks filled in the core walls around the lifts, toilets and stairs. The painters are not expected to be out of the tower under the end of next week.

By Friday staff will have completed unpacking the boxes on level 3 which if a great achievement. Desks and chairs will be brought in so that students can sit around all of level 3. This will add another 100 or so tables and chairs ready by Tuesday 7 June – if not before.

If you are working at the Central Library the students working on level 11 have been asked to sign in and out at the Information desk. If by chance the library is evacuated please try and take the list of people on level 11 so that we can do a head count once everyone is out of the building.
