Meeting, yesterday, with Heather re buildings

Hi

Heather and I (with my TEU hat on) met yesterday to discuss library building issues. Here are the notes from that meeting- you’ll have seen that Heather has already addressed some of the issues.

We agreed that the library had made good efforts to keep staff informed about the state of the library buildings and the safety of staff working in them but that there was still potential to improve communication and discussed ways to do this. We agreed that Counterculture was a useful central place for information and that it could be useful for information to be posted there even when it only appeared to affect one group of staff.

I requested that
1. Either notes or recordings of sessions with Peter Moloney etc be made available where all staff can access them
2. In the event of another aftershock closing buildings, an update on the status of buildings be provided by Heather or another manager before staff are expected to re-enter them

Heather will:
• Investigate what sort of recordings or notes may be possible
• confirm on Counterculture which buildings it is still voluntary for staff to enter
• provide clarification of why it is considered safe for a small number of staff to enter the EPS library while it is not safe for the library to be open for general use

Caroline will:
• ascertain whether there can be a specific heading on Counterculture for Earthquake related building updates

Heather reported that information on the Law building should be released this Thursday or Friday.
Heather confirmed that the small area of asbestos was discovered on Level 4 and this was the reason that level 4 was closed off for a time, and that it has been cleared now.

Caroline
