Interloans changes – progress report

Last week a posting Interloans changes described changes that were imminent for interloans. These are now underway, and the following changes have been made on Horizon:

  • The standard loan period for interloans from other libraries issued to our users should now be 28 days
  • Interloan items on the hold shelf will now be there for 14 days
  • UC items sentd to other libraries will now issue for 42 days

At least that’s the intention, and testing indicated that it’s all set up properly. But please contact Library eServices if you find any exceptions to the above.

Still to be implemented (currently with Margaret for programming)

  • Text messages sent to borrowers when there is an interloan waiting for them
  • Reminders sent to borrowers if they have not picked up an interloan after 7 days
  • Recalls sent to other libraries for our items requested, after a minimum 3 week loan period

  1. We have regular students who seem to be confused by the term "received" on their Z portal accounts, but the item is not waiting for them on the hold shelf (or pdf). Can this term "received" please be defined?

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Dave
‘Recieved’ in Zportal only means that interloans staff have recieved it, and will be sending it on through the hampers or processing in some other way before the patron will get it. Definitions of terms they might see in their Interloans accounts are available from the FAQs from the Interloans page on the Library web:
