central items not truncating to patron expiry date

Hi all

As a result of extending due dates of central items out to cover the time central is closed this summer – central item due dates are not truncating to borrower expiry dates. Renewals on central items will also renew until Central is open again. People with expired records won’t be able to issue any new items and shouldn’t be able to renew any issued to them.

At the moment (and up to when the central library opens again) there will be a few people with items out past the time when their record expires (people with expired records won’t be able to issue any new items). I am checking for these daily, and will be editing due dates back according to the borrower’s expiry date. Due to the numbers/time involved we (eservices) have elected not to contact each borrower and alert them – we figured that the pre-overdue notice should give them enough warning to be able to return items (as with recalls).
You may, therefore, get a few questions from concerned borrowers.
Most affected borrowers are temporary staff so won’t be fined but you may want to be lenient with students who haven’t got the message about their item due dates being edited back.

Kind Regards,

Romy
