recall/truncated due dates for central items

Hi all

An unintended consequence of having the central library location “closed” on Horizon (while Central is shut for remediation) is that any Central items are currently being issued to/recalled to the next day central is open (so the usual 3 days rule for recalls and 1 week rule for due dates of items where there are following requests, are not being applied literally) . As the next day Central is open is the 18th of February 2013, this isn’t particularly desireable for the requestors.
This will also affect high demand items currently in the central high demand collection – i.e. 3-day loans issued from 13th November – 15th November and 1-day loans issued on the 15th November. Once we move the collection to EPS high demand items should be ok and adhere to normal hd loan periods.

We are working on finding a way around this problem (particularly with recalls) but it in the meantime, if you get people issuing central items at the desk, please take the opportunity to edit due dates of requested items.

  1. We’ve now "fixed" this problem by re-opening Central library in the Horizon calendar. This may affect other things so let us know if you spot anything strange. The recall program and e-services staff meddling should have fixed any long issue dates for requested items.
