We are beginning to see few ULANZ borrowers at the Information Desks seeking to have a library record set up or renewed for 2013. In addition to the notes on the wiki, you might find the following pointers helpful…
1. Check that the borrower’s institutional ID card is valid for 2013 or beyond. Some cards may not have any date on them at all but can be accepted in good faith. In all cases the ULANZ record expiry date will be 28 February 2014.
2. Search by borrower name for any other record they may have on Horizon.
3. If the borrower does not appear to have a record on Horizon, then the normal procedure for setting up a ULANZ record applies
4. If another record is found, and the barcode matches that on the borrower’s card:
Check there are no unpaid library charges
Renew the record in the usual way via the ULANZ icon
4. If another record is found, and the barcode does not match:
Check there are no unpaid library charges
Ensure that any items issued have been checked in, then
Set up the new record via the ULANZ icon, and tick the box for ‘other record on Horizon’ on the online form.
The Central Library staff responsible for checking the ULANZ load on Horizon will ‘unapprove’ or ‘delete’ any pre-existing record with a different barcode.
