The Library has been advised that the Law Basement is to be cleared of books and shelving so that crack injecting can be completed. The Project Office are organising for a contract to be signed for a company to come in and pack the library items and then for the items to be available for retrieval offsite. This is a similar project to packing up level 4 of the Central Library We have one and maybe two weeks to get the records for the Law Basement as up to date as possible.
LSS staff are concentrating on the titles which are in Horizon as ZLJ2 (unbarcoded journals). They are be checking if the titles are barcoded and changing the status to ZLJ. The team are barcoding items only if by barcoding a few titles a run is completed. We are not going to attempt to barcode all items in the Law Basement.
There should be little change from a customer point of view as they will still request for retrieval. If an item is not barcoded we will interloaning it as we will have no way of identifying it until it is returned.
When final details are known a news item will be placed on library news.
