Nominations for a Library Staff Representative on the Library Committee

Unfortunately Sue Johnston has had to step down from her role as the Library Staff Representative on the Library Committee effective from the meeting on 3rd May. The Terms of Reference for the Library Committee state that there needs to be:

“One member of the Library staff elected by the Library staff”

Therefore I am calling for nominations from across both Library Research & Information Services and Library Support Services for the Library staff representative. There will be one representative covering both areas of the Library.

Please send nominations to Carole Rickman by 1pm on Monday 13th May. Please can you check with the nominee first to ensure that they are happy to sit on the Library Committee. The Committee meetings normally take place on the 1st Friday of each month (February to November) from 9:00am-10:00am.

If more than one nominee is received then an election will take place.

For more information regarding the Library Committee, please see the Library Committee web page.

Sue is happy for prospective representatives to contact her if they would like to know more about what is involved in this role.

  1. Sue here. Do have a look at the Terms of Reference on the Library Committee page for a full understanding of the purpose of the Committee. I recommend a stint on the committee as a very interesting way to look at the big picture of academic, undergraduate and post-graduate viewpoints on library matters as well as our own internal view. We have a very dynamic Chairman in Peter Cottrell at present and meetings are never dull. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to participate and only resign as I will be on leave without pay June-Sept.
