Volunteer Librarian wanted

I received this plea from Catherine Woods who is the administrator in the College of Business and Law. The war memorial library is located at Church corner. If you know anyone who may be interested in this voluntary position, please contact Catherine

I am writing to you as librarians, in a community capacity.
My father is Chair of the Riccarton War Memorial Library which runs at Church Corner on a part-time basis.
It is a relatively small but cherished little community facility.
He is now 83 and looks after my mother who has dementia.
He has given many years to the library but he really needs someone to take over.
He has had no luck at all with this and is not happy to just leave it as it could well close without the voluntary committee.
I wonder if you know of any retired and/or part-time librarians who might be interested in taking this on even if for a short term?
Of course it doesn’t have to be a librarian at all as it can be run by anyone as it is a very basic system.
I am just trying to help him out and it suddenly occurred to me there may well be someone at UC who has taken voluntary redundancy or whatever and who might actually find it a great transition ….. into a different life with more time on their hands.
Anyway if you think of anyone I would really really appreciate it you could get them to contact me in the first instance.
Thanks for reading this!
Bye now

Regards
Catherine Woods
