Summon and LibGuides have enabled a mechanism to make it easier for a LibGuide to be found in Summon. We have had this enabled by the LibGuides people and it is up to you whether you decide to use it or not. The instructions from SerialsSolutions are:
For those of you that are using LibGuides research guides (or CourseGuides) from Springshare, we are excited to announce some additional integration features that will allow you to easily map your Guides to Summon disciplines. This can be accomplished using a new, administrative option within the configuration tools for your Springshare Guides.
Mapping your Guides to Summon disciplines will optimize LibGuides for use with our new Summon Topics features (coming soon with the new Summon 2.0 interface) and enable better matching of recommended Guides and subject specialists. All Guides mapped to Summon disciplines will be more discoverable right away – especially for users who use the discipline facet to refine searches.
To map each of your guides to Summon disciplines, just select the appropriate Summon discipline from within the new disciplines administrative tool of your Guides. To access the Summon discipline selection tool, click on “Guide Settings -> Change Guide Information” in the orange toolbar on top. Click on the “Subject Associations” tab to expose the Summon Disciplines pull down list.
In the Summon disciplines pull down select the Summon discipline that best matches the content of your guide. This will be the primary discipline associated with this guide. If you would like to associate additional Summon disciplines with this guide, you may select more than one discipline, but, Summon will give a relevancy boost to the first discipline you select.
