Thomas Evan O’Beirne arrived last night after a very short labour. At 3.94kg (8 pounds 11 ounces), he’s nowhere near as big as the scans would have had us believe! Everything went really well in the end, despite all the initial problems.

Thomas is the name of his only surviving great-grandparent and also means “twin”, which we thought was quite apt, given that he’s kind of a twin to Elsie! Evan is after my Grandmother, whose surname was Evans.

So glad he’s finally here, and I can get some rest (of sorts). This was him being held by his dad not long after he was born
