Over 40 librarians will be here Thursday for the Te Puna Forum which will be held in Room 101 in the Undercroft from 9.00-1.00pm. The forum will be looking at the future direction of Te Puna as a consortia and service as National Library look to replace Voyager as their library management system.
There will be an informal session at 2pm in Central Library 210 chaired by Anne Anderson with one of the international guests, Pat Losinski. This session will probably be of most interest to public libraries, but anyone if free to go to the session (ask your manager).
Pat Losinski
Since 2002 Pat Losinski has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, a twenty-one branch library district serving 820,000 residents in central Ohio. CML is one of the most used public library systems in the United States. Pat is interested in how libraries influence their communities, especially in an environment which is digital, and has been an active campaigner for better access to e-books in the USA.
Prior to joining CML Pat spent five years as executive director of Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs and has been a library director at two other public library systems in Illinois and Ohio, serving on the state library board in each state. He has received a number of awards and was named a “Superstar” in the General Management category by Columbus CEO magazine in 2012.
Cheers, Anne
