The library now has a Blu-Ray player which is in the self loan area of the Central library for students to use. It will play Compact Discs, DVDs, VCDs and Blu-Ray discs.
Blu-Ray discs could come in either one of three regions,
A: America (North, South and Central), Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South East Asia
B: Europe, Middle East Africa, Australia and New Zealand
C: India, China, Russia, Central and South Asia.
Apparently the big American studios make some of their Blu-Ray discs able to play all regions. The Blu-Ray player in the self loan area will play all regions but will have to be changed if the default setting (region B) does not work.
To do this, remove the disc from the machine, On the remote control press the SETUP/HOME button, press the code 8520 on the numeric keypad on the remote. This will allow either 1 (for region A), 2 (for region B) or 3 (for region C) to be entered.
unfortunately there is no all region code for Blu-Ray discs.
DVDs also come in zones but the machine will play all zones. (The setting for DVDs on the machine is “0” (zero))
Please let me know if you have any queries.

Thanks Tim. I have slightly adapted your piece for a Library news item.
