Library Committee Meeting 7 August 2015

Kia ora koutou,

On Friday the monthly meeting of the Library Committee was held. I am the staff representative on the committee, and I would like to start letting everyone know what was covered in the meetings. Anne has made her Librarian’s report available here. The following points were also discussed:

• Alison McIntyre presented the Information Literacy Report, providing an update on the library’s information literacy initiatives along with statistics for the first half of 2015.
• Greg Marshall spoke about the proposed library hours for summer 2015/16, and for the academic year 2016.
• Helen Thomas gave an update on the collection review pilot project, and the 2015 continuing resources review.
• Helen also presented the proposed new position description for the Library Liaison Officer.
• I spoke about my trip to the UK in June.
• The undergraduate student representative put forward some ideas to improve the students’ experience, including sleeping pods to be available during exam time, and borrowable device chargers.
• Nick Scullin provided us with a summary of the Library 101 programme, which was run in Semester 1.

If you have any questions about the above items or would like more details, please let me know.

Ngā mihi,
Sara
