We are looking to expand the Library 101 Programme with more classes next year and we’d love to hear your ideas for it.
Please contact Kathryn Andrews with ideas or questions as I will be on leave from the 13th of October until the end of the year.
For those who are not aware of the programme here is a quick blurb:
Library 101 is a programme of information literacy skills classes aimed at undergraduate students that offers the chance to develop essential skills around finding and using information. It was run in both semesters and is a response to an observed information literacy need. Library 101 is self-directed learning that provides introductory or extension skills for students. The programme compliments the embedded teaching that the Library does.
The current list of sessions is as follows:
- Find and Manage Course Readings
- Independent Research Using the Library
- Introduction to Journals for Science Students
- Introduction to using Art, Archives and Photos in Assignments
- Four separate subject specific APA sessions for Education, Engineering, Commerce and Science students
Some ideas we have for more sessions are:
- Google Scholar
- Basic file management
- Ebook use for different devices
All ideas are welcome!
Cheers,
Nick
