Introducing the new MB Intern – Rata Holtslag

We had a new intern starting today, Rata Holtslag. Rata is working on a project involving the architectural drawings in MB, co-supervised by me and Rosie Ibbotsen in Art History. Rata will be working with me in my office on Tues, Weds and Friday mornings during semester 2.  To start with I made her write and intro to you all….

I’m Rata and I am currently doing Art History Honours, with one of the papers I chose being the Community Engagement Internship. In doing this I wanted to gain some practical skills while also getting an idea of what it means to work in various fields, and I had in interest in archiving and library work and was aware that Macmillan Brown housed some interesting collections that I wanted to engage with – not just as part of my internship, but also to inform my ARTH480 research paper.

For the internship I will be researching and writing a short synopsis on the major collections of architectural drawings in the library with the intention that it will be more accessible to the public and students, and researching the use of the drawings in teaching at UC and other universities and composing a report on how this can be done.

Please make Rata feel welcome if you see her in MB. I’ll keep you updated on her progress too.

Cheers
Erin
