Assyst upgrade scheduled for April

Hi all

ITS are currently working on upgrading our current version of  Assyst (v10 sp2) to Service Pack 6.  The upgrade will not change the look and functionality of the self-service portal (SSP) – what users use to log high demand requests, but it will change the look and feel of the technical portal (TP) – what library staff log into to manage requests.

The upgrade will bring with it the following advantages:

Pro’s/Added functionality in SP6:

  • Mobile support for both TP and SSP
  • Deep linking support – i.e. will be able to link to a specific request form (e.g. high demand) from webpages etc.
  • “Close multiple tickets at once” action added
  • Better event linking functionality
  • Right-click to actions menu (saves having to go to running man icon at top of screen)
  • Better, more logical icons
  • More menu customisation options in the TP

NB – Favourites staff have set up in the TP will not migrate across – however there will be more options for menu customization in the new version, that should mitigate this.  ITS are also putting any Assyst enhancement requests on hold until after the upgrade.

Timeline
Currently the project team (ITS) are working on functional testing.  They will be reaching out to members of the Assyst User Reference Group just before/after Easter to do some User Acceptance Testing, before  offering training sessions (11-13th April) for staff using Assyst TP.  ITS have indicated they will make available training videos/recorded sessions for staff unable to attend the training sessions.

The go-live date is scheduled for 18th of April (the upgrade will take place over the weekend of the 16/17th April and will take down the SSP for around a day).

We will circulate more information around training options as it comes to hand.

Kind Regards,

Romy (on behalf of e-services)
