Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback on the trial of Kanopy Video Streaming.  This resource has been popular with 530 people using the Kanopy resources so far and watching 267 films.  We’ve also had feedback from liaison librarians that there is wider subject interest in Kanopy than just the film areas we’ve opened up so far.

We expect to run out of our initial allocation of money we’ve put into the Kanopy trial in the next few weeks so it’s a good opportunity to pause and review our experience with trialling Kanopy so far.

Datasets had a discussion about this yesterday.  Datasets is keen to get a picture of the usage to date and understand how Kanopy is being used.  We’ve got some analytics tools on Kanopy we can use to assist us in this plus we’ll be talking to those we’re aware of who have been using Kanopy so far.

Along with this information, at the next Datasets meeting in June we’ll also have the latest budget summary which will give us a better idea as to how much more money we could commit to Kanopy this year.  This information will help us determine whether we can open up some more collections on Kanopy, or whether we need to look at reducing the profile of resources available on Kanopy to stay within budget.
