Just a heads-up about the Kēmu patapatai / quiz on 13th Hōngongoi (July) .
Teams of 4-6 people. Teams get points for having a team name in Te Reo. Teams get points for having a team whakatauki that they can explain. Get a team together and sign up for bragging rights (and prizes).
You might want to brush up on the following:
Ingoa wāhi /local place names. The names will be taken from this list:Place names
Ngā marama / months of the year
Te hapori / community buildings: Community
Te tinana / parts of the body Body
Rākau / trees.
Kathryn
Which version of the months of the year are we to learn, Kathryn? In order to give some of us a fighting chance, can you also let us know where to find the list of community buildings, parts of the body, and trees that will be used in the quiz, please?
Sure thing, Caroline.
I have added links for Community, Months and the Body.
Trees: this is an “Identify the picture” round. The trees will be well known natives. There will be no tricky ones. Think popular trees like kowhai.
Does this help?
Thanks, Kathryn, That’s very helpful!
