Speaking for myself, if I may be so bold, I can thoroughly recommend Myers-Briggs training! I went to a 2 day MB workshop way back in the ’90s, and I think I can safely say without fear of contradiction that I didn’t get to where I am today without having to participate in that! The part I remember most vividly is running around in a circle with everyone else, pretending to be either a donkey or a giraffe (or was it an elephant?). So if that sort of thing appeals, then GO FOR YOUR LIFE! (as a dear old next door neighbor used to say when offering me some ghastly, rotten, worm-eaten apples she’d picked up off the ground).
It is also possible to arrange to do the Myers Briggs as a team. It has the benefit of increasing understanding across your team. If this appeals then please speak to your manager.
I thoroughly recommend Myers-Briggs as well. It is interesting to learn how people might react completely differently to yourself in a given situation depending on type.
The last time I did it was with the old Library Management Team when Gail was appointed UL. Kerry and I were surprisingly similar and quite different to the other managers which explained a few things.
This is a great opportunity for all staff. Myers-Briggs one of a number of tools that helps with understanding people. Have a go, don’t take it too seriously, take out of the session what resonates most with you and talk to your colleagues about it.
