Casual cards

There are about 65 casual cards extant that users are holding and that will now be redundant now that Equitrac has been implemented.

The only way to know the balance of an old card is to check the list (left hand column) provided today to all libraries by Emma de Lacey. Most outstanding balances are less than $10.00 but there are 16 balances over that amount.

If a borrower presents an old casual card please check card number in the left hand column and replace it with a card of the same or slightly more amount.

Cards no. 10-17 (i.e. the higher balances) are at Central and a selection of cards with the smaller balances will be in the hampers tomorrow. There will also be casual cards with no balances to give to those who want to load a bit of photocopying money.

  1. Currently the casual card balances will read on the Ricoh machines, but the balances don’t show on either the EFTPOS reload stations or the Fine payment (change to show balance) interface on the front desk computers.

  2. We had a casual card user in at MB this morning and had a bit of trouble finding it on the list because the barcode number printed on the card – 964304600216527 is listed as Cas960021652.

So to make searching easier we have obtained the excel spreadsheet, saved here: K:\LIBR-Library\Operations\Facilities\CasualCard_Replacement_Process – from where we can search for just the six digits starting with 00****

Hopefully this will make future card swaps easier!

Also Emma de Lacey emailed “There is no point in giving out new casual cards until we get the scanning issue with the reload stations fixed, as they can’t add funds. We think we know what needs changing but there is another more urgent issue occupying the IT consultants at the moment!
I’ll let you knw as soon as it is fixed.” (I’m not sure if that message went to everyone)

  3. Payment plus will not read a positive balance on a casual card either at the moment. This will affect ULANZ borrowers wanting to pay fines as they will a) not be able to load money onto a new casual card and b) if they have a new casual card with a balance on it Payment Plus will not be able to deduct anything as it is only reporting a nil balance.
subscription borrowers will not be able to pay for a subscription either.

  4. Hi Tim and everyone
Have logged a job for Margaret to check Payment Plus RE casual card balances coming up as zero. However, having just read Rebecca’s comment – it’s possible there is a deeper issue with the card balances themselves if the reload stations also can’t bring up balances for the cards. Will ask Margaret to check with Emma and the project team.
