Anyone else going to do NaNoWriMo this year?
For those of you not sure what a NaNoWriMo is, here’s a one sentence explanation:
Challenge yourself to write 50,000 words in November which is National Novel Writers Month.
I did the NaNoWriMo Camp back in July and it was a lot of fun. I didn’t ‘win’ (reach your target word count) but I still wrote a lot.
If anyone else is keen to give it a go let’s chat soon. This month is prep month for the November challenge.
Special thanks to Rā, for putting me onto NaNoWriMo earlier this year! 😀 😀 😀 😀

And continuing with the meme at the end of my posts today…
Probably I don’t have the discipline to do this myself. However, I can pass on a success story, my good buddy Skry Adamson did NaNoWriMo back in 2010, and produced the unusual artisitic work, Infinite Mayhem with the British Aristocracy. From: https://www.amazon.com/Infinite-Mayhem-British-Aristocracy-Adamson/dp/1453663142 :
“A group of British aristocrats go on a hunting trip to Kenya, one of the many new parts of the ever expanding British Empire. But one of them brings back more than they bargained for: an ancient idol that raises and attracts the dead. Having travelled back through Europe, the idols new owner throws a banquet to celebrate their successful hunting trip. As the unsuspecting guests arrive at his lavish manor they are oblivious to the fact that hordes of undead, raised on the return trip through Europe, are arriving to join the best of England’s dead to descend upon the stately home and take back the idol.”
While I question his editorial integrity, and possibly his sanity, I know he got a great buzz out of being a published author, so if you’re thinking of it, do it!
Good on him, that’s awesome! Sounds like a fun book. NaNoWriMo is a lot of fun even if you don’t reach your words target or get published but actually publishing something would be very cool. I hope one day to have something publishable.
One day… one day…
Make that day today (or the 1st of November anyway)!
I had a lot of fun with the camp back in July even though I didn’t reach my goal. If you want to write, it’s a good way to get yourself actually doing it instead of constantly putting it off like it did for 10 years. There is a cool community of people out there in NaNoWriMo-Land.
