This year we are subscribing to a new Taylor&Francis Database – Taylor & Francis Online CAUL 2017. This is to replace the following databases we subscribed to last year:
- T&F Social sciences and humanities Library
- T&F Science & technology Library
- T&F Medical Library
As this is still relatively new, article-level linking has not yet been set up by our Multisearch/Summon vendors so when searching for articles covered by this database users will be taken to the journal page and have to navigate to the article via journal volume/issue list or can search for the article in the journal search bar. There is currently an issue with the journal volume/issue links – clicking on these brings up a blank screen (or in IE you will get an error message about content in a frame) – this is because this database doesn’t work with the helper sidebar.
We will add the database to a side bar exclusion list that will bring up a link to open the Taylor and Francis content in a new browser window/tab when users click on fulltext links, however this will may take a couple of days to take effect.
If you come across users struggling to access full text of articles in this database we recommend telling them to click on the “Preview” link in the Multisearch search results page – this will bring up more article details, including a DOI link which should take them directly to the article. Hopefully it will not take ProQuest too long to set up article-level linking for the database.
Re MultiSearch > Preview > DOI — I notice that the DOI link given there does not have an EZProxy prefix. Won’t that prevent access for students off campus or anyone using wireless?
Hi John, yes you are right (sorry I assumed the prefix was there) – we will have a look and see if we can get the ezproxy string through to the links via the Summon settings – Romy
If you grab the DOI and put it through the linkmaker that will work for students offcampus
