The search function provided on almost all UC web pages should improve dramatically later this week. At present the content is indexed by a local server provided by Google – but it is old and no longer supported.
ITS is putting in a new search system powered by MindBreeze.
This should be a lot more powerful and I’m hoping searching will work more smoothly. MindBreeze has lots of option built in (for instance it becomes much easier to build a search for a specific team or unit) but I don’t know whether these options will become available to us. I assume, at least initially, that they will concentrate on getting a good whole-of-UC search experience.
I tried a search for EndNote via the search box on the Library home page today. This search used to result in being able to find the EndNote guide very easily. This is no longer the case with the new search system. In addition, the results are visually distracting as they display yellow highlighting over the search terms.

I agree, Caroline. For this at least, Google is still better (putting inurl:canterbury in order to retrieve both normal UC pages and our guides):
endnote inurl:canterbury
If it doesn’t start picking up content from our LibGuides within the next week, I’ll ask ITS if it can be tweaked to do that. We don’t know anything about the way it can be configured, but I’m sure we can get most of our content exposed.
